Govt lowers import duty on EV components

Govt lowers the electric vehicle parts and components import duty from 15 to 30% bracket to 10 to 15% in order to promote domestic assembling of electric vehicles. The CBIC (Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs) has carved out a separate category for parts and components of electric vehicle for which customs duty has been lowered. The CBIC has removed customs duty exemption to battery packs for electric vehicles in order to boost “Make in India” initiative. Henceforth, import of battery packs for electric vehicles will attract 5 per cent tax. The new rates of duties have come into effect from from 30th Jan 2019. #autojobs4u #automotivejobs #EV

India enters $100 billion club in M&A

For the first time in 2018 the Indian market witnessed, 1200 deals worth $110 billion or Rs.71,000 crore as per Grant Thorton’s(GT) annual Dealtracker. M&A transactions were at $90 bn and PE at $20 bn. As per the GT report deals worth $ 60 billion were concluded in 2017, and $ 57 billion in 2016. This was an 80% jump over deal value in 2017.                          The on-going capital market and regulatory reforms, constant amendments to reforms like GST, Real Estate Regulatory Authority(RERA), Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), and concrete efforts to improve ease of doing business in India are signs of increasing depth and maturity, making the Indian markets more attractive. Furthermore, the surge in the M&A deal activities was mainly driven by the objectives of consolidating by expanding the market share, buying technology and diversifying market presence. Corporates improved their inorganic growth strategy through divestment of non-core assets, expanded into newer

Flying cars would soon be a reality

Boeing in an attempt to revolutionise urban transportation and parcel delivery services has tested its flying car prototype which hovered briefly in the air. Major hurdles to Boeing's vision of "low-stress" mobility - as it is called in the company's marketing materials - include sorting out numerous critical safety and regulatory issues to meld traditional roadway traffic with fleets of flying cars. Boeing is looking to achieve a range of 50 miles with two flying car variants capable of carrying two and four passengers each. Tests are planned for later this year on a package-hauling version that can lift up to 500 pounds (226.8 kg). The major competition to Boeing comes from Airbus, which says it has already conducted numerous flying vehicle test flights, to Volocopter, which has tested drone taxis that resemble a small helicopter powered by 18 rotors, and AeroMobil, with a stretch-limousine concept that can turn into a fixed-wing aircraft. World’s 1st Multi-Collision Airbag system has been designed by Hyundai Motor Group.

This new system allows the airbags to deploy effectively upon a secondary impact by calibrating the status of the vehicle and the occupants. As per Hyundai the currently available systems, do not offer secondary protection in the event where the primary impact, which might be enough to deploy the airbags, is followed by collisions with secondary objects, such as trees, electrical posts or other vehicles. And such cases are claimed to occur in 3 out of every 10 accidents. The system detects the occupant position in the cabin following an initial collision and is designed to deploy even faster when initial safety systems may not be effective. The company has recalibrated the collision intensity required for deployment in such a manner that the system deploys airbags more promptly during the secondary impact. The company says that it has analysed multi-collision scenarios in multilateral ways to improve airbag performance and precision in secondary collisions. #autojobs4u #automotiv

4000Km express way under Bharatmala Phase-II

Govt. will be focussing on the highway development in India to facilitate uninterrupted traffic flow under Bharatmala Phase-II. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which has been tasked with implementing the flagship highway development programme, has invited bids for undertaking project preparation so that projects are ready as soon as the work for the first phase are bid out. The majority of the stretches will have greenfield alignment, which means these will be new roads. The maximum speed limit for cars will be 120 kmph on these expressways to reduce travel time. Some of the identified greenfield highways include Patna-Rourkela, Jhansi-Raipur, Solapur-Belgaum, Bengaluru-Kadappa-Vijayawada, Gorakhpur-Bareilly and Varanasi-Gorakhpur. Considering that forest and wildlife clearances hold up projects for years, the NHAI has asked the consultants to avoid road alignments through national parks and wildlife sanctuaries, even if it requires taking a longer route/ bypass.
